Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Why such a long wait?

Is there any reason why the management felt it was appropriate to announce layoffs ten days before they'll actually take place? Why create an atmosphere filled with anticipation and stress that will last for more than a week when it all could have been done and over with in two days?

and some of those managers will be laid off as well, of course. it'd be very interesting to find out who among the executives and management will be given the boot. some of us might not be around to find out so please drop a hint on this site. (i'm not sure you're allowed to actually identify people by name here.)

And next week all managers will know who is getting laid off. And they won't tell us... I guess this is how they want to let us know that sooner or later it's happening to all of us.
I don't think any of the "quantum employees"(they're there but at the same time they're not there) will be happy with business as usual...

They have made the decision and the list of people is confirmed. They are just working through the paperwork for each country thus 15 May.

This is definitely not handled well, they rushed into it so they can announce it at the earnings call to impress the wall street. Most people will not be motivated for the next 10 days. Could have been done better.

Will this fall under WARN? Seems it must be, at 1 location, either 500+ people or 50+ people and 33% of the total. What's the current HDQ total?

All call center agents should have signed a union card back in 2017. Now you’re fu---d. Eric harassed and screwed you, then Ben. Next time call the IAM and unionize like the AA gate agents did. Sabre went to sh-t after AA got rid of them.

because the monthly payroll process closes on the 15th-16th, less work for our accountants

They don’t care about your misery. They care that they don’t get into legal trouble. Sabre is now a Woke company. Aligning with Environment, social and corporate governance- ESG means less travel and flights which results in lower CO2 emissions. Think about it- Your travel is restricted while the leadership had a fiesta in February. ESG will reduce air travel and Sabre is aligning with it. Make your choice.

The point is they should have made the decisions and had the conversations before the earnings call.

the WARN Act requires advance notice of 60 days in the event of plant closings and mass layoffs. unless, sabre can claim this is being done due to some unforeseen circumstance, they should have given the labour department notice almost two months ago

Kurt explained it on the town hall, same question was asked. We are public company so they needed to report certain things as of today, but they still have not made decision on layoffs fully due to legal reasons
