It's unfortunately always the same result.
The day you start at GM, you should be planning your lay off or departure fund. It's never if, but only when they choose to "departure" you. Hard knock life for many people.

"Lack of preparation cannot be blamed on leadership!
What an absurd thing to say.
Be responsible for your affairs like an adult."
It is absurd. Good thing that's not what was said. What was said is that leadership is bad because they have to lay off people all the time. Hire big then fire big. Over and over again.
"I saw it on a fact check sight, so it must be true."
Who fact-checks the fact-checking editors, who are human beings with biases? Their content is funded by "advertising sales, paid memberships, direct contributions, and merchandise sales". If you think the entities that fund operations like this will not have a say on what is true or false, well... that's sad.
Quoting these sites does not make you appear intelligent. The result has the opposite effect.

"I can understand your dislike of fact checking."
Simply calling out the fact that the "fact checkers" are merely mouthpieces of the government that falsely promote propaganda as "facts" isn't a fear of fact checking.
It's calling out the BS.
We should all embrace real facts. Like the biological fact that there are two genders and that human beings have an evolving immune system.
If you find yourself quickly bringing up your favorite 'fact check' site after hearing established facts, you are simply not an intelligent human being worth discussing things with.
I can understand your dislike of fact checking.

Back to the subject of layoffs.
Calling people who don't plan for layoffs stupid does mean causing extreme hardship in hundreds to thousands of people's live because of leadership's incompetence and callousness isn't a horrible thing to do.
That's right. Fact checkers receive checks from those they need to push an agenda. Always follow the money.
Are advertise themselves, exactly as what they are not.
Fact checkers are partisan hacks who use political narratives and propaganda to validate what they say is true or false.
People who put stock in them are lazy and intellectually dishonest.

Take it on faith.
If one can believe the fact checkers, without having fact checkers to fact check them, and fact checkers to fact check those fact checkers, then you can just take it on faith.
Fact free "information" sources are the best aren't they?
125 million Americans live paycheck to paycheck.
63% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck as of September 2022.
High pay doesn’t always solve the issue – 60% of millennials who make over $100,000 a year live paycheck to paycheck.
40% of Americans have enough money in savings to cover a $1,000 emergency.
Nearly 75% of American workers are in debt, and 50% of those workers believe they’ll always be in debt.
That’s just common sense. No matter where you work, you should live within your means and have an emergency fund to cover expenses for a minimum of 6 months. 9 or 12 months is an even better plan.
Well done.
Been advising it since 2008, the cycle has always been the same. Hire a ton, a few years later layoff and fire nearly as many or more. Last cycle was mass hire 2015, and mass fire 2018/19. Same excuse was given then, to save two (2) billion is cost cutting measures. Right around the time they had to abandon the open floor layout expansion mid deployment. Haven't been back since, but I'm sure that's been completed - like every other corporate entity out there was instructed to do. Recall GM's poll about wanting open floor, and 95% said firmly no. GM said tough, take it up the rear.
This is only the tip people. It's going to get worse. The house of cards is about to start tumbling down for the economy. You think what you are experience now is bad? Nah, it's just the appetizer. Wait for it. Watch those 401ks.
Been making sure we’ve had at least 6 month’s bills in savings since BK. Up to around 50 months now.
