Mike's Around the World Non-Apology Tour 2023

Alternatively titled the 'Fails Tour'.

While us minions await our severances. That fool Roman has been getting jet time in.

His tour so far:

  • St. Paul to Tokyo (fuel stop in Anchorage)
  • - Tokyo to Seoul
  • - Seoul to Europe (fuel stop in Istanbul, long-a-s 14+ hour flight there.)

As I'm writing he is in the air over Europe out of Istanbul. The heading is most direct for either Neuss or Bracknell (great circle, go figure). That said with weird Eurocontrol traffic routing, anywhere west or north of Austria is possible.

Last Update - No Fu----g Encore for You

Headed back to St. Paul out of Mexico City. Should land around 7 pm central time.

Some tour stats (rough)

Total distance: 25,000 miles
Flight Time: 45 hours
Fuel Burned: 18,400 gallons or 125,000 pounds (or 2-3 semi's full)
Estimated Cost: $250,000

Were those town halls worth a quarter of a million to you?

It would have been better to give every remaining 3Mer the 3 dollars and saved the time.

Update 5 - The hits keep on coming.

The stop in south Mexico appears to be a short fuel stop. Really odd - The plane shouldn't have needed fuel.

They took off again and looks like they landed in Mexico City for the townhall.

So far Mr Roman has spent well north of $100k in just fuel for his trip. Total travel cost is closer to $250,000. Just think about how much actual, productive, work that could have done in your plant/division/lab.

He's probably being held hostage by the cartel. We can only hope.

Update 4 - Error on the Error Tour?

Mr. Roman just landed at a really odd place. Tapachula International Airport, a small-ish town right on the southern end of Mexico.

As best as I can tell, there are no 3M facilities within 500 miles. It is almost equidistant from 3M Mexico HQ and the Costa Rica GSC.

The plane easily has the range to cover Brazil - St. Paul non-stop, and there are far better places for a pit stop along the way if they wanted to.

Is Mike working on his tan or just avoiding coming home? Inquiring minds want to know.

Update 3 of the 'No Apologies' tour:

Out of Sumare around noon local, heading north towards the Amazon now at FL400

Early heading suggests the post of LATAM is correct, aiming too far south/west to be coming home.

To the 3M monitors watching the board - if you don't like it, fly commercial.

MR did not say Europe is safe…in fact he said that on an average we would see 10% job elimination, some functions more than others but everywhere. He also said A3M made some things more complex and in part this restructuring is to address those complexities.

@1qbq+1mqLD4JT
Where did you hear that? Sounds completely wrong. In fact they announced already before the MR visit that 3M will exit several EMEA countries and people located there will lose their job - no matter if global or regional role.

OMG this comment about “oops we made the structure more complex” is aggravating.

The day they published the A3M org charts I was already telling people that an LVS leader in EO and another one in the BG was gonna be a problem. And it was. How tf did our leadership not see that ?

He said Europe is safe … focussing in the rest of the world

He said the same like everywhere else. No presentation, no news - just answering questions with phrases.

Although he admitted that they intended to make the company structure simpler, but made it more complicated instead.

Tomorrow MR will deliver the town hall in Brasil. Friday in Mexico. LatAm layoffs still to be seen…

What did he said in Germany ?

Someone needs to tell him that 3M travel is on hold for Q2.

One has to wonder if Mike is just faking his way through his job or does he really have no clue what a buffoon he is?

He doesn't have a single person in his top 30 who speaks the truth to him. Only telling him what he wants to hear and filters out all the bad news.

The wall street analysts are asking him tough questions now FINALLY! But the damage has been done. The good news is I think he's close to mandatory retirement age for 3Ms CEO per company policy. Vale is already getting his business cards printed, as is Monish.

What a frigging disaster!

Update 2 of the "Errors Tour"

He is back in the air after the earth-shattering show yesterday. Left Dusseldorf this morning, currently heading southwest off the coast of Morocco.

Estimated destination - Viracopos Airport, near Sumare, Brazil.

@iqx+1mqLD4JT -

Agree fully, fuel savings going the other way would have been quite literally tons. I pencil out the potential savings as roughly 5 tons for the full trip, assuming he returns from Brazil direct to St. Paul.

No acknowledgement of the wasted shareholder millions on these failed plans created by McKinsey and Kearny consultants for BT and A3M that bloated layers of management in Executive ranks so that Magic Mike could spend millions on his friends and coat tail riders. He ran off some of the most competent leaders we had in Chris H to hire the likes of Petey and Monish. The failed legal strategy will continue to cost employees and shareholders. Truth be told all of our Peer company's would have fired this CEO after five years, not let him Coast into retirement with more ill gotten millions. Not to mention the billions wasted on share buybacks.

They are literally using the same slides from a month ago. Virtually no recognition that all the work (Advance 3M, Transformation) destroyed the company. No apologies, no accountability.

In a time of where he should be looking to cutting cost, he managed to loop around the globe going through headwinds the entire time.

Would've had a nice fuel savings if he flew west to east.
