I was laid off yesterday as part of the 11% workforce reduction. I was summoned to a virtual meeting about an hour after the company-wide email. It lasted about 10 minutes and it was nothing more than the perfunctory spiel by a couple of VPs that were ill-equipped and clearly overwhelmed. They made it sound like I'd be working until end-of-day today but about 2 hours after I dropped off the meeting, all my access was cut off. Most of my team members in my marketing subdivision suffered the same fate, some who had just recently been hired. Other teams were completely eliminated. Seems like a tone-deaf decision to make on the same day you announce that you had a profitable quarter upwards of 180 million USD. On a shared personal chat group, the sentiment among those left in the company is that many of these cuts are preemptive and that management is rootless and can't be trusted. They said that moral internally was as low as they could remember and that they're keeping their head on a swivel.
