Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Another 80s hire and now (thankfully) a retiree no forced to drink the kool-aid.

Tartan was definitely a great place to be, even into the 1990s. Things seemed to get more restrained in the 2000s, for good reason.

But 3M Club was a great place for an newer hire out of towner to have a drink and meet a potential future spouse.

Sad to say, most current or recently fired employees never got to experience the employee centric culture.

Like they say about Vegas. What happened at 3M Club and Tartan stays at 3M Club and tartan, although there are a lot of funny stories that can be shared at a high level for amusement.

Not blatent but still going on. VP’s ( one has now left 3M) screwing another VP. One was married, one recently divorced. All could see it

Regrettably to say, yes after people had some drinks in the 1980s at tartan there was some bu-t pinching. Both s-xes. No I didn't get into that at all but do recall a few gals giving me a pinch when I walked by. I think that got cleaned up by the early 90s. Of course, that stuff is gone forever and has been for a while. But the mild debauchery did come out later in the night. I do know people met their future spouse at these events, more than a few, which was good for 3M and also the employees.

Also played some softball. Wasn't sure if was on those tartan diamonds or maybe another league i was in but on sweltering hot early evenings, some people actually carried their can of beer with them onto the field. I did a few times when playing 3rd base and put it at the back of the infield. Found out I did have courage to take on a hard ground ball if it meant projecting my beer :>)

Hope this golden time comes again.
