Yes, all level managers, do your jobs! The bottom feeders will deliver once you stop validating your importance and stop the internal politics!

I'm a mid level manager and first off, I appreciate everyone doing the work in the trenches more than can I express here. This role is frustrating as he-l. It's not that we don't want to do our jobs, it's that we are afraid to take any bold action as we'll be scrutinized the nth degree and have to report out on it 8 million times. My boss has no interest in my ideas and is 100% managing up and repeating the vague, often conflicting, directives thrown out from above. I hate to sound whiny since I guess I have it pretty good but making $ while feeling useless isn't as great as it sounds. I agree that we have too many layers of people like me with our current culture. I'm merely a message deliverer and whipping post..
No changes in the layers as per the new townhall. Looks like such a lost opportunity.
I’m having two marketing projects on my desk for two years now, both well forecasted with a 7-figure value for 3M. Both needs a small funding only, 20k and 120k. I have spent more time discussing the funding than what it is worth, everyone’s agreeing with the figures, still it seems that cost saving is more important than growth as budgets are widely frozen.
This company doesn’t want (!) to grow anymore, and with 15 years at 3M, this is what concerns me the most.
Agreed. I was tired of expanding scope of my role just to justify my bosses roles.
Too many meetings where they would be five to Six managers asking me about the work done.
This job loss is painful but I understand why it is needed. If it is done wisely, it might be good for the org as a whole.
