Layoffs always existed at 3M, but at least we knew once a round was done we were safe for the foreseeable future. That's no longer true. Now I feel like we are worried about layoffs 24/7, and as soon as one round is done we start speculating about the next one because the chances are it's coming. This can't be good for our health or productivity.

Job security has been gone since Mike and team has taken over. He has no other plan other than cost cutting. The ONLY consistent thing that he has implemented is significant job cuts every year under his watch.
At 3M it most certainly is.
Job security is only temporary.
It has been gone for a while now. Job security at 3M has arguably been gone for nearly 25 years.
The last director of CRAL (now retired) put it perfectly in a staff meeting: The only job security at 3M is your ability to find another job.
