Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Focusing primarily on EVs is a mistake

Would be pretty greedy and foolish to get rid of the current talent that’s making you money when future sales of EVs aren’t a sure thing yet. But hey, some things never change about gm and they seem to think they know better than the customer. Guess we’ll see whose right in the end.

I couldn't agree more, @1deb+1lXZeDN5.

Play the devils advocate for a minute. Why does anyone think that EV's were meant to succeed? Everyone knows no one wants them.

With that said, and I take no political side, but has your life been any easier or profitable since the current resident stepped into office? Almost seems as if EVERYTHING has been intentionally sabotaged, derailed, caused to fail on purpose. As the market has run hard since March of 2020, it's almost as if they intend to take it all down piece by piece. Now today, they "claim" that the people don't want EVs. Well duh, duh, duh, welcome to nearly a decade later. How does that project into the economy? Layoffs, buyouts, another failed project for now. Further downward projection on the economy since the current resident stepped into office. Again, not political has I have no horse in that race, but your 401k hemorrhaged last year to the tune of about 20%, and it's about to it over again - DYODD. GM has potential to reach sub $20, and you would know this if you knew how to read and chart, and apply TA to stocks. DYODD.

Again with that said, what makes you think this EV push was meant to succeed? At least this round? What if it was part of the controlled demolition of things? Do you feel more wealthy today, or, do you feel more poor? Is it a coincidence, or intentional? Have you thought that far, or do you easily dismiss it? Those questions, pretty much sum up a person. Discernment, and those that lack it. Do you have a calculator for a brain, a computer, or a super computer?

Here's an IQ test question. Still think the Covid shot was great for humanity, and the "limited" timeframe these corporation were instructed to push it? Or, were you all played? If you can fall for the fear, then you can fall for anything. It's a VERY powerful motivator. That's what gullible people do. They trust the pseudo-science. They are always, always, and always, taken advantage of.

EV's won't succeed, because they haven't figured out how to deactivate the "burn your house down" feature of the design. Don't worry about the limited range, power, and charging options. Do not dare to question the eco perspective, where it costs MORE in waste to produce a single battery. Smoke and mirrors people. They take advantage of the ignorant. In products, in the market, and all across your life. By design.

I read in the WSJ that GM can just raise prices forever and make record profits.

Here's a link to a copy outside the paywall:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/mcdonalds-pepsico-gm-flex-their-pricing-power/ar-AA1ajteD
"McDonald's, PepsiCo, GM Flex Their Pricing Power"

“Everybody sees [price] declines around the corner,” General Motors Co. finance chief Paul Jacobson said of American consumers’ willingness to spend big on new cars, which continued in the latest quarter. “That corner just keeps getting further and further out.”

We are in good hands people! I feel so optimistic and warm inside. One team!!!

CAFE standards can be rolled back after elections.

This happened before.

Fear mongering? I just some opinions about EVs. OP even ends saying "we'll see."

BTW, lots of ICE vehicle? What happened to "All in" on electrics?

The focus is NOT primarily on electric vehicles.
I work in product development... we have plenty of ICE vehicles in the works.
More baseless fear mongering from people who don't know what they are talking about.
Go ahead and down vote this because the truth is less exciting than your drama.

$150 per mile penalty if truck gets under CAFE 49 mpg (year 2026).
Truck rough mileage estimate of 20 mpg.
49-20 = 29 miles per gallon penalty.
29 x $150 = $4,350 added on to price of truck. Yikes!

I would agree! I haven't met anyone embracing a purely electric world. Regardless CAFE standards, always be aware of your fundamental base, and make sure you provide to their choices. Lots and lots of ICE-car buyers in Florida, Georgia, elsewhers.

GM-pay attention. Anheuser-Busch is a case example, in the working..., about a corporate decision to market to an audience that doesn't comprise the majority of the product's backing. Marketing campaign that back-fired, big time!
