About 1 billion in cuts, among the total cuts. That suggests that there are many thousands "still" yet to cut.
And, for those without a history to fall back on, GM was ALSO slated to cut 2 billion from it's books in it's last layoff. First it was volunteer buyouts. Then it became mandatory. Then it became contractors, to the tune of many thousands.
We are about one (1) billion in cuts and buyouts. What do you think comes next? GM is going to do, what GM has always done for decades. Ruin hopes and dreams. Why do you drive GM ever? It's their legacy, to hire and fire. The moment you hire in, you have a future fire or replacement date.
I am glad I have no horses in that race today. Nearly 20 years of abuse from that company, and I have successfully moved on. Layoffs, buyouts, it's not even a consideration. In fact, we are looking to hire many, from those discarded from the aftermath. Playing with GM is a young persons game. You can take the abuse all you want.
