Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

No severance?

Can somebody please confirm if some of the laid off employees received no severance? I thought severance is something that is guaranteed by law. Am I wrong? If this is true, it makes layoffs ten times scarier. I can't even imagine how the employees who were affected feel if this is true.

If you took your own “severance” through creative, direct methods, please return these items to the nearest FLS. Thank you.

Folks are now getting emails that even though they were let go for performance, they are eligible for severance.
Sounds like the brothers got involved to protect what little time they have left.

No severance pay even if you work 100 year with this company, they are so greedy.

I feel great! Just went through a Monday with zero worthless meetings and haven’t heard the phrase “pivot” in almost a week.
Nobody I’ve talked too got anything other than a kick out the door, rumors are a few got something.
Lots of us are getting lawyers.

There is no law that requires a company to pay severance.
