I have absolutely no explanation why this company looks favorably on slackers. They totally ignore the negative effects that slackers have on hard working employees.

SF bleeding policies, unable to compete in market, record and unsustainable losses, weak leadership, greedy leadership, too many fat layers of management, no vision, outsourcing, reliance on 3rd party vendors for failed technology, micro-management, inferior workforce, failed consolidation in urban areas (how stupid was that). SF has nothing left. Your jobs will soon be gone. Put a fork in it it, SF IS DONE! Can you say Sears..they were number 1 for 100 years too...years of bad management destroyed it just like SF.

Agents are so 100 years ago. Had my agent for years you know how many times I have contacted him or his office. Zero - that's right ladies and gentlemen. I'm sure in the next 5-10 years this business model will be obsolete. 5-10 years State Farm will be a shell of its self because of A.I. MT is doing such an awesome job never heard of a C.E.O losing 13 billion and getting a bonus of 20 million. Maybe next year we will lose 20 plus billion and his bonus will double on the way out the door. The culture at State Farm is a sh#+ show. Having leaders who only exist. Absolutely no leadership skills on this sinking titanic. Wait until you hear later this year how they will revamp our compensation. Watch out pension!!! Good luck my follow comrades. Prepare for a ruff ride in 2024.

Awesome news, with State Farm’s record of developing and rolling out new technology, we probably have another two generations of agents before they get that right. National pay at the pump or something similar will most likely happen first.

That is why I said agents are cost effective-for now. A ton of work underway with AI and bot. That will eliminate the majority of call center cost and hassle. Insurance industry customers are clamoring for more self help options. Believe it or not they prefer not calling an agent or certainly going to an office.MOA is the beginning. Many fewer agents handling extremely large numbers of customers over broad geographic area. The future agent will function ironically more like leadership-hiring, firing, training. Debate at the moment whether staff will belong to future agent or company. This will be a continuum-not a one day mass solution. More MOAs, less agents more self service….

Your missing the main component of this, if agency is eliminated and there is no new agent to very quickly bond that client to big red, they ain’t waiting in a 45 minute call que to get serviced, they are going somewhere else. Plus where exactly is SF going to come up with 3-5000 service reps minimum to handle the volume? India call center? What are you wearing Jake from SF, same pants I have been wearing all week and same Sandals. I guess it would be like our current call centers in that respect.

Not arguing that agents aren’t effective for now…Just clearing up the agency myth that customers are more loyal to an individual agent versus brand. You answered that with your example of a customer shopping agents while staying with SF.

You younger operations folks do not get it. State Zfarm just doesn’t work without agents. Long term customers do have loyalty to State Fsrm….but also to their agent. We see it in transfers all the time. If they don’t like the new agent they will call around and find one who suits them.
SF has tried like crazy to use other sales channels. The results suck. Poor quality and high turnover. In spite of what you think, agents learn to write better quality business as they progress in their careers. You learn to spot the liars and crooks who just end up costing extra time and money. And you learn to turn them away….compliantly.

I know SF retains 94.8% of any retired or terminated agents book. Loyalty is with the brand not the agent. You can leave tomorrow and 95% of your customers will wave good bye to you…..

Funny you should mention that , I had one of my adult children open an Indy agency two doors down, she does very well. Actually has a lot of the SF agents feeding her referrals most of them multi line quality business SF overprices or decides they no longer want. Look at a lot of the Florida agents, ask a few how their independent agencies are going. What else you got?

LOL. Hundreds of agents have left the company over the last 30 years and all the while threatening to take all their customers with them. Exactly zero have succeeded. Over 35% of existing customers can’t even remember their agent’s name and over 65% have had zero personal interaction. Most customers think agents staff are company employees. If you think your brand is stronger than SF go be an independent agent with higher commissions. You will starve,

EXACTLY, SF may own the accounts and client data, but the agents own the customer loyalty. I came to SF 25 years ago from a competitor and well over $1.5 million in client premium came to me after the non compete expired. That would be over $3 million in todays premium dollars. Multiply that by 19000 agents = $57 billion. If even a fraction of that happened SF would drop way down the list of companies by size. If you have the ability to do some simple math you soon realize agents really do matter, a great deal.

Except the cleaning crew does not glue the customers and revenue to SF, buffer the customer from our fkd up claims operations ect. Agents do all that and more, it they could come up with a more effective way to do it agency would be gone in a heartbeat, yet here we are, over 100 years later still holding this shtt show together listening to some know it all (actually know nothing) dppshht ramble on like they actually have a clue. We really don’t care what you think about how much we make, our office hours or lifestyle, we built this company and were some of the first to lose our pensions and retirement health care benefits as gratitude. So, if we legally and morally decide we want to milk our contractually agreed up opportunity as we see fit, that’s our right. So, yea, jealousy bites and you can just fkkk right off scooter.

I’m an older school (AA97) agent, soon to retire. Made an above average living by absolutely busting my a-s. Met with every customer, personally wrote more apps than any team member I ever had. But it’s impossible to keep doing that forever.
My time is coming to an end. No regrets. But today’s agent cannot do it the same way. Absolutely impossible. They have to hire, train and maintain a sales machine. Some of you think the agent has to be in the office all day, everyday. For close to three decades, I have been. But the new model is the MOA agent with 2,3, or more agencies. Even the d-mbest of you can clearly see that agent will not be sitting in 3 offices simultaneously. More power to those who can do it. I could not.

Who gives a shittt what Chuck, Ed, or Rand thinks? All they have managed to accomplish the last 20 years is turn what was once the best agency opportunity bar none into a just an above average job. Ask yourself, has the agent contract improved in the last 20 years? Has underwriting or claims response gotten better in the last 20 years? Has your compensation rate increased in the last 20 years? Have our products improved in the last 20 years? Yea, be careful who you hold out as “friends of agents”. Most of these dudes got jobs thru nepotism not merit. I spent the first 15 of my 38 plus year ins career with a top 5 competitor, I was amazed when I met top leadership at SF at the lack of intelligence and critical thinking. I always left wondering how the he-l they got there. Never once did I leave thinking wow, here’s a real problem solver who is super concerned with the fate of my agency. Remember big dog #1? We are just starting to see the financial results trickle off of big dog#2. Yea, real brain trust we have running the show.
