Isn't pathetic that any participation of AIG personnel as hosts in non-business related meetings is banned? We are basically cut out from workshops and market events of any kind, all because some top level white collar spilled confidential financial information... Am I missing something here?

Actually the "guidance" is we can attend but not participate in the presentstions, panels, etc. It could be a disaster if one of the great unwashed said something not fully scripted and approvex by Petey.
Hosting a non business event using company tools is not wise or ethical
That must be specific to your division and/or position. I have approved multiple conference requests for my team and attended one in the last 60 days personally.
How long has this been a thing? I happen to know of a team that travelled for a conference a couple weeks ago.
They pay you to work for them and not attend conferences.
Oh if the brass hats want to travel they go wherever they want in Peter’s private jet.
