Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Disgusting lying to loyal employees

It's one thing to be up front about layoffs and handle them professionally, it's another to lie in the face of loyal employees. I believe they are trying to cover up what would normally be considered a layoff under the guise of performance issues solely to not give a severance package.

The terminations that I know of included very high performers for the most part and were all high level employees, some were even promoted within recent history. A handful of people I know of deserved it and had it coming, but the high performers with long tenure and track record of success do not make any sense to me.

From what I know, when employees asked for examples of poor performance, they were flat out lied to with nonsensical responses from higher ups who had little to no direct interaction with the employee and little to no direct knowledge of the employee performance. Absolutely deplorable.

I mean… Nordstrom will do anything to cut the costs including cutting their building service members and hiring kbs instead I mean… look how dirty the rack stores…. You see how they make decisions…..

Well I know the lay off is horrible. Why don't you guys contact the press so public knows behind it all...? I'm pretty sure reporters would love to publish it anonymously.

None of the loyal companies who spend many years with company knew the truth about the real face of Nordstrom company, the first thing they did when they felt that they started losing money is sacrificing their loyal and great employees, the worst part is that some of the managers who had any personal issue with any employee started with them. I know the dar side and the details about it because I witness it, sorry to say this but Nordstrom it's going down and i believe that it's a karma of what they have done to their loyal employees . I know people who work with Nordstrom for over 30 years and they got no severance pay when they laid them off. What a shame.

I had lunch on the 5th floor cafe of store 212 recently. It was lovely, a trickle of rich, wrinkly old widows buying outfits for charity galas. They should have bought/leased the old Lord&Taylor flagship on 5th Avenue. Nordstrom family too far out over their skis in this, and they know it. Should know their fate by Anniversary this year.
I did not visit the Men’s store space in Manhattan because I am heteros-xual.

Spot on, good time to short. With their flagship NYC store selling at the same levels as a suburban locations, it’s a matter of time till they announce changes there. Not to mention every one of the new racks being opened are projected to lose money until they close them in 2-3 years.

It’s been clear since covid this place is one bad sales event away from the history books. These are the last gasps of a dying company. They know paying severance is a cost they can’t afford. The creatures responsible for this get to report “We got rid of non-performers, look at how much we saved the bottom line!”
