Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Problem with prioritizing

This is a really tough period but I'm trying to somehow stay focused and do my job.

Have you noticed that it is constantly emphasized that we need to prioritize, and at the same time everything is always urgent?

I don't even know what they want from us anymore. They are taking advantage of the fact that people are scared of being out of work.

I can’t focus lately. I got barely any work done this week except for my deadlines. I have no ambition to work on my extra projects or “goals”.

I have realized that no matter how much I do, the work will always be there, and no matter the progress, the pile of urgent work will always be there. They're also playing this weird game where they're saying layoffs will happen for months trying to scare employees and get them to leave. But at the same time, they want employees to work a lot out of fear of layoffs. Just focus on your mental health, try to reduce the anxiety of layoffs and do how much ever you can without going out of your way. Enjoy the weekend!

Prioritize what you think is important for you. I was RIFd last week. Prioritization has a different meaning for me now and I’m enjoying the opportunity. Hang in there better days are coming either way.

With org changes happening at the same time, it's hard to stay focused and keep things going when it feels like it's pointless and will get canceled or reprioritized.
