Will the layoffs continue at the same intensity or will it just be the people who, for whatever reason, were not readily available to notify? I know GM said that the layoffs will last for months, but there has to be a point where it goes from a major layoff to playing catch-up. At least I hope so.

To the person who asked about the WARN requirements - I think keeping the laid off employees on payroll as full employees for 60 days is what is helping Medtronic avoid from a WARN at the moment. With that, I'm assuming they would need to issue a WARN after the 60 days period (60 days from yesterday).
Suggest follow up with your direct manager during 1on1; if not one scheduled for this week, request one. All people managers received guidelines on talking points.
So what about sales in the US?
Non sales in the US will be done this week. It’s the regulated countries outside of the US that have different laws and restrictions, those sites will drag out through the summer.
One thought/question is if the rolling layoff over days/weeks/months would help them avoid a WARN Act notification.
From an FAQ:
WARN is also not triggered when the following various thresholds for coverage are not met:
• If a plant closing or mass layoff results in fewer than 50 people losing their jobs at a single site of employment;
• If 50-499 workers lose their jobs and that number is less than 33% of the employer’s total active workforce at a single site;
• If a layoff is for 6 months or less; or
• If work hours are not reduced 50% in each month of any 6-month period.
