Just got an email that layoffs will be happening over the next TWO MONTHS. So, every day we'll just go to work waiting for the shoe to drop. How can employees function under these conditions – just live in denial and wait for the slack from our manager? Feels like they don't really have a layoff plan and will arbitrarily do it piece by piece. Not encouraging. Just rumors floating around. Unhealthy.

This was IT a year ago. Layoffs dragged out and delayed multiple times. It’s horrible.
They'd prefer people to quit to save on payouts for severance. In the past, it's been 60 days (due to the law) and then I believe it's an extra 2 weeks for every year served.
Yep. There are a lot of managers who are in the dark just like ICs. The scripts you hate hearing us are the only pieces of information we are getting. I am in middle manager h3ll being a human shield for my team for over 2 years now. I am at my breaking point. There is some level in the chain of command where the duty of care seems to disappear...
