Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Global-Floundries = Sore losers

Appears GF is queuing up another distraction right before Q1 earnings release 🤣🤣 iBM will bury them legally.

Gf is a sore loser for suing Ibm over trade secrets. No motivation to work with intel and japans rapidus government backed startup? Gf likely losing on chips act funding. Gf also likely losing folks with key trade secrets with recent layoff spree.Likely this is a combative legal play against ibm lawsuit on 10nm/ 7nm non delivery and the $1.5B GF does not have to pay back to Ibm. This is all about cash and trying to get Ibm to negotiate. What’s the crystal ball tell us?

Seem like there could have been a better outcome here.

Employees tend to leave toxic work environments that disrespect and burn them out.

Didn’t GFs contracts with IBMers who were brought over also get voided by the courts?

They had some no compete clauses that prevented them from going back to IBM for some time (2-3 years I think). But it was no enforceable as it violated people’s right to work. I recall all the former ibmers were terrified of this Claus but someone challenged it and the courts ruled in their favor. It wasn’t illegal for GF to put it to paper and scare the sh-t of them but when rubber meets the road it was unenforceable.

What is very funny is GF doesn't even do any leading edge development nor has it ever done anything below 7nm which was FinFET. Advanced nodes have moved onto nanowires and nanoplanes where GF has no IP. This is a smoke show to try and get IBM to drop the $2.5B lawsuit against GF for pulling out of 7nm and breaking their contract with IBM. Apparently, they believe they are going to lose that lawsuit so they bring up this smoke show to try and minimize damages they will owe IBM.

Further the part about restricting hiring by IBM is a total joke. GF is downsizing in the US and had layoffs in Dec, of course people are going to jump off a sinking ship!!

When GF loses the lawsuit brought forward by IBM this will be the final exit of TC, the end is near!!

Hahaha what a joke this place is. It’s not like IBM is specifically targeting Glofo people for hire- it’s just that Glofo is such a garbage place to work that they are running away to wherever that will pay a higher salary, including many competitors and companies outside of the industry. Guess Glofo is gonna start suing them all 🤡🤡

Puts the last nail in GloFo's coffin.
Intel and Rapidus have Technology Roadmaps for 3nm, 2nm, 1nm GAA - what intellectual property GloFo had to offer? LMAO

"It also said IBM has been recruiting GlobalFoundries' engineers - efforts which have accelerated since the Rapidus partnership was announced in December 2022, and asked the court to order an end to those recruitment efforts."

LMFAO. They have an issue with turnover so instead of paying us for what we are worth- let's sue our competitors that will actually appreciate our talents to develop great technologies. What a clownshow. Btw, it's not just engineers- I see a lot of techs I used to work with- all of them amazing, coming to IBM.

Glofo can really, really suck it.
