Starting to wonder if there is going to be a big impact for Surgical Innovations and Surgical Robotics due to the future? Maybe that merger was a baby step in the more strategic RIF? Have not heard much, was thinking when the SI restructure happened that RIF would take place then. But maybe that was just setting up this week?

SR/SI announcements are coming after the end of the FY. It’s part of the strategic redesign.
Plymouth site is being gutted.
There was an email directly to Surgical OU after Geoff Martha's announcement saying how "February's announcement of the new OU will result in some workforce reduction due to redundant positions" (paraphrased) so yeah seems like it will happen, although it is supposed to come in the "coming months". Maybe they're waiting until after the merger is official to do most of the reduction?

ILS Plymouth hit hard today.
Our director in Surgical Robotics initially thought the impacts would be minimal, but has recently been very tight-lipped about the details. Which seems to suggest that his initial surmising was inaccurate. The only tidbit of information that he has communicated is that our department will announce more details sometime next week.
