Plenty of greenwashing and other such propaganda. It would be entertaining if not so serious.

Aramco’s feed makes it seem like the best company in the world. However, many of us know the truth from our direct experiences “in Kingdom.”

A working heuristic for future and present employees. Interpret Aramco’s statement’s in inverse. Or at the very least try to figure out what’s not being said. For new employees especially. Talk to expats people who work / worked there before stepping on a plane.

Aramco are just taking a leaf out of other large corporations in how to do PR and spin BS.

The big difference is that Aramco has zero accountability and is supported by a nation state in its flagrant approach to propaganda. China has 100k people working as agents posting propaganda on news sites, I dare say SA has a similar amount. It’s about national pride and Arab nationalism…we all know where that ends up…

Remember, it’s easier and cheaper to talk a good game and to pretend, than to actually run a serious business.

Just never forget, with aramco it’s “Do as I say, not as I do”

If not..we’ll you’re out, and quite possibly for the count…

And on the point of social media and propaganda, you will have no freedom to air your views. Residents live in FEAR of making any criticism of the government or any government entity. I would always pass by making any comments on news articles in news websites. There is a 'PR internet army' employed to talk up the country, suppress negative views of mbs and KSA, and to follow and monitor those who comment on or follow opponents. I had a very minimal social media history while I was there and kept it so just mentioning safe topics like sport or food! I recommend new expats review their social media history before arrival, and make sure you've never mentioned anything critical about the Saudi leaders or Saudi in general. At end of the day, you are there to collect cash, stay quiet and obedient while you are there. There is no democracy.
