Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Thinking it’s not over yet…thoughts?

Seems that there will still be reshuffling and some org based layoffs in the near future since the amount may have been met but not the number of people…

By June 30th, all the folks will be gone. Thereafter assessments will be made of each org. Only time will tell. These are my thoughts based on yearly attrition plus how many folks took the buyout.

Every time you see someone drive by with a new Corvette, you shouldn't judge them by their age. You should thank them for contributing to your bonus.
You should also be proud to work for a company that makes something as awesome as a Corvette.

Harsh, man...

At this rate, I'll be 60 before I can afford a Corvette...

Corvettes are for 60 year olds having a midlife crisis.

The infotainment system comes with a therapy app.

Buicks and Cadillacs are old people cars.

The premise about hiring Americans is good. The average American doesn't buy Buicks, though.

Yeah! Go woke go broke!

We boycotted the NFL and Gilette and Budweiser! And we absolutely destroyed those companies! When is the last time you ever heard of NFL, Gilette, or Budweiser?!

GM customers mostly watch Fox.

They won't be happy if they knew they were driving Chinese cars.

"One thing to consider is that while Buick currently sells four different vehicles, only one is made in the United States, the Enclave. The Envision is made in China which has seen a slew of pandemic-related lockdowns and restrictions. The Encore and Encore GX are built in South Korea."
https://www.thedrive.com/news/buick-us-sales-tanked-over-40-percent-in-2022

If only one in (3) Buick cars are made in the United States, the fact that Buick sales went down by 40 Percent in 2022 is a good thing. I want to stay employed by GM, but not if GM continues to do the WRONG THING.
GM deserves to be put out of business if it's not going to employ Americans.
I wonder if average people know that there are Buicks on the road that are made in China and South Korea. It's disgusting. All that flag waving posturing is just bull.

If you noticed, average Americans seemed to be pretty upset with the Bud Light brand recently. Do you think they have had enough yet?

Only old people in the Midwest want and trust GM's product.

All Google really has to do is sell ads. GM actually has to make a product people want and trust.

GM wants to think it's a tech company but it's nothing like a tech company.

"We are just like Google. Except for this, and that, and..."

They have been predicting it since 2019 when they did the first layoffs.. this was not done for recession proofing.. it is planned reduction so they ultimately become a technology business (like ARM) that sells patents and other companies in china build and design things

I heard a rumor that several electric car models were canceled. If true, GM can reduce staffing levels.
Anyone have any inside information?

If the predicted recession happens there will definitely be more layoffs.

But nobody really says when it's supposed to start. They've been predicting it for a year.

Low effort post. They already know how many are leaving in eah org. June 30th is a meaningless date.
