Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

After all the layoff to Hospitality this occurs.. Coincident??

NCR Corporation, previously known as National Cash Register, is an American software, consulting and technology company providing several professional services and electronic products. It manufactures self-service kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, automated teller machines, check processing systems, and barcode scanners.

NCR is suffering an outage on its Aloha point of sale platform since Wednesday after it was hit by a ransomware attack conducted by the BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware group.

NCR Aloha POS is a comprehensive restaurant point-of-sale and management software, the company claims it is used by more cashiers and servers than any other POS in the industry.

I quit/retired 2 and a half years ago, never looked back. Rolled over 401K and dumped all NCR stock. Carried COBRA for 18 months and now completely separate. Ahhhhh, life beyond NCR is good... 40 years with what used to be a great company, NCR no more.

Hire a female CIO who is not qualified, but only for the sole purpose to increase the company ESG score.
Spend an extraordinary amount of time to make sure employees add their pronouns into Workday, RIF the security team, pushing out products not ready. It is not that much of a leap to expect the systems to be hacked.

BTW, Aloha systems are still down…. Smh

Imagine the mental gymnastics required to associate a ransomware outbreak with wokeism. Jesus Christ!

Dear NCR Banking Customers,

We understand that you may have seen information, including from our own press release, regarding a single data center outage that is impacting some functionality for a subset of our commerce customers, and that the outage was caused by a ransomware incident. While our banking customers are not impacted by this outage, we wanted to reach out and provide additional context so that you can feel confident in the security of your data and your networks.

First and foremost, we want to be clear this incident is limited to specific functionality in Aloha cloud-based services and Counterpoint. None of our ATM, banking, digital banking, or Allpoint solutions are processed at this data center. Put even more simply - there is no impact to any banking customers or any of their data. You can continue to conduct business with us as you normally would.

We appreciate your support and rest assured we are continuing to share updates with our impacted customers as our restoration process progresses.

If you have additional questions, we encourage you to contact your NCR Account Executive.

Regards,
Don Layden
EVP and President,
NCR Banking Dan Antilley
Chief Security Officer,
NCR Frank Hauck
President and General Manager,
NCR Banking Group Stuart Mackinnon

Compare train wrecks lately with ncr and it’s the same. Cut corners, reduce your experienced staff etc etc . The outcome is always the same.

I'm amazed this has happened. NCR knows they are in the cross hairs of this sort of attack. The system wasn't compartmentalized per customer, separated by hardware firewalls? This reminds me of the disaster that caused Singer to lose its dominant position in online POS to NCR in the late 1970's. History repeats itself.

Woke had nothing to do with it. Moving to the cloud with no oversight, remote “hands off” support and lack of experienced folks is the issue. GT interns are lucky to wipe their bu-t, let alone fix anything.

Unbelievable that a company the size of NCR has not figured out the issue as of yet. What is going on here. Serious question- Why is the company going through this transition to 2 separate companies? Other than benefiting the Executive Leadership team it is nothing but a farce for everyone else.

Aloha was badly designed from the get go. Privacy and security by design is never a principle new NCR software.

More chaos to come in the next few months with the company split going into effect.

The silence is a great example of absent leadership at NCR. Woke agenda and policies are going to be difficult to ignore. Hiring a woman CIO in November to satisfy ESG and advocate groups probably played a part in this crisis. On Friday NCR actually posted on Twitter bragging about their platforms yet this issue is not publicly addressed and the comments are from a dozen or so employees or business owners asking about the outage and NCR has yet to respond. It’s failed leadership all over the place at NCR. This outage is probably the most significant issue NCR has encountered in years and the leadership team couldn’t be handling this in a worse way.

The board needs to quickly make sweeping changes to this company and it should start at the top and the bad hires Hayford has brought along with him. NCR has a lot of potential but the company needs workers and busy bees at the top, not Woke elites that are too uppity to get their hands dirty and definitely leaders that step up when needed. I can’t imagine the spin that will come from the Executive team. How long will this outage last?
