Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Town Hall

What a tour de force from Geoff and excom today. Geoff’s usual business lingo word salad heavily seasoned with “uh” and “um”, the beaten-to-death reminders of all the external factors negatively impacting performance, the assurances that this time we’re really ready to turn the corner.

Karen citing “holiday weekend selling prices” as an excuse for stock performance was a new one. We’ll have to see if that stays on the bingo card.

Funny how Geoff was SO interested in talking to those high school students. Compelling stuff. Couldn’t have all been a run-out-the-clock tactic so that Q&A only had enough time a for a few softballs.

Also felt that GM put all the failures now from decisions Omar made, including the Coviden acquisition. Really tacky throwing your biggest supporter under bus to save your own hide. Maybe if we came back to the office 7 days a week things would even be better Gee-off! Be a man and shoulder the blame. You are the only one not placing it directly on you.

It was so nice to hear GM was able to take vacation with his family and a bunch son’s friends. Jet to Hawaii?

How can we vote out GM. He’s a horrible CEO.

And all the folks in Europe are shocked that GM doesn't know that Czechoslovakia does not exist for over 30 years.
Do you think he knows that Yugoslavia does not exist either? And that Ukraine is not Russia?

I feel ashamed he is our CEO.

Lulz, its like bruh, only MDT facing these headwinds? But funnily enough it doesn't seem to be impacting MDT peers

My favorite part was when he said they had mismanaged diabetes for 20 years... How does that even happen? It's not like you started as CEO literally yesterday...

The FIRST robotics stuff was a total ploy to soften the audience. No different than showing pictures of cute kittens.

And of course if all BUs had executed like Diabetes, the grand plan would have been a success.

Strong dollar. Thats all you need to understand. A very special strong dollar that doesn’t impact Stryker BSC Abbot Edwards Philips etc.

All he had to do was convey confidence in his new plans and assure people there would be some kind of MIP. Epic fail both counts.

Geoff has been “turning the corner” for 3 years!
Maybe it will help if he stopped hiring washed out executives from unsuccessful and or unethical companies and ventures - Honeywell, Nuvasive, Amazon consumer robotics (does anybody even know what that is?), and a whole bunch of ex-Tyco/Covidian and of course GE!
The only group that is doing well and innovating is filled with true Medical Device leaders - CVG
