Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The choice is yours

I really want to have faith that things will get better at some point and that we'll all be able to keep our jobs. But the truth is, layoffs are an unfortunate reality in the working world. That's just the way things are. What I am sure of, though, is that we have control over our happiness. If you genuinely enjoy working at Ford, then I encourage you to stay and make the most of it. Take every opportunity to grow your skills and gain valuable experience. But if you're not finding fulfillment here, then it's worth exploring other options because there are better opportunities out there. Ultimately, the choice is yours to make.

People are generally as happy as they want to be.

However, a goodly portion of the long term Ford employees have had the self confidence and initiative knocked out of them. After being in an environment where initiative and creativity are squashed and punished they are paralyzed and stuck. Inertia

I took two 30 year employees under my wing and built up their self confidence, set up practice interviews for them, wrote their resumes and linked-in profiles and finally convinced them to jump from Ford. Both are flourishing and regret staying @ Ford for so long. One likened it to an abusive relationship. They didn’t realize just how toxic and stressful Ford was until they were in a healthy work environment.

Now they are paying it forward and throwing a lifeline to others.
