The economy might not be in a recession yet, but the number of layoffs continues to rise and with it, the number of unemployed people. In this environment, laid-off workers are going to have a hard time finding new jobs, and many will be out of work for months. If you get an offer, I advise you to grab it with both hands, even if it's not ideal.

No recession. 3M got fat because of all the SAP hires and SAP did not pan out. Lawsuits. Can no longer afford those that were hired for SAP/ERP/BT. You knew they were going to get laid off. So you hire thousands of people to implement a system that was designed to create a lean global enterprise with less organization structure? Don’t kid yourself. This was the plan all the way back to Inge.
Especially if you are over 35, white, and male.
Layoffs are the new common thing with every company. Completely agree with op. Back during Obama recession I completely changed fields due to lack of jobs. Take what you can get because it's only going to get worse.
