Thread regarding UPS layoffs

Does VSAP turn into RSAP?

With this latest round of VSAP offers, if UPS doesn't hit their numbers, who gets targeted first for RSAP? People closer to retirement?

Figured there would be lots of takers this time around since there are no more contributions to the pension.

VSAP will always turn into RSAP. The writing is on the wall when VSAP is offered.

I’m sorry to hear you were laid off. What was your job title? Operations?

I was laid off yesterday. I don't have a pension fund, don't know what an improvement plan is (so I must one be on one), and my performance is excellent. I've been in my position longer than any of my coworkers with the same job title. I have more experience in the field than everyone in the department combined. But I am 20+ years older than everyone else, too. Age discrimination, anyone?

Lots of factors go into this. Yes, UPS will definitely do a RIF if the VSAP doesn't get the numbers they are looking for. Ask me how I know.

They'll target the pension folks heavily.
If you are on an improvement plan, you will get hit.
Performance compared to others in the team will be evaluated too.
