Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

$35,000 down the drain...

"Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee has agreed to pay $35,000 to a deaf patient for whom the hospital failed to provide sign language interpretation during hospital stays in 2017 and 2018, according to the settlement agreement, provided by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin."

"Frivilous lawsuit"?????????! Did you know most family members who have a member who uses Sign Language to communicate NEVER LEARN SIGN LANGUAGE???? Family members may often use use made-up gestures and gesture only a couple or a few words in a sentence because that is all they can figure out how to gesture. ...and we think a family member has a strong enough vocabulary in Sign Language to also convey MEDICAL CONCEPTS???? Are you freakin' SERIOUS?????!!! You clearly do not know anything about this whole issue.

What training, education, credentials and life experience do you have in this area to say such a thing?????
