How many of VPs and SVPs do we have? How many more could we lose without it being felt at all in productivity?

Well OUS, you won't find as many directors, VPs and SVPs. Not even close. It is less likely to get promoted OUS (specially since A3M) and you don't rise that far. Additionally they earn less than in the US. Especially you will rarely find directors without direct reports. They are mainly located in the headquarter.

Not a chance in he-l they make $300k. Like all the people leaders in the company, I have access to the pay ranges. There is no pay range in the US that realistically gets to $300k below the VP/L3 level.

Also, if you are just now complaining about the over-proliferation of vacuous slides in 3M you have literally missed the last 20 years of this company.

Segment marketers in psd still make $300k for a bunch of bs ppt slides. They create no real value and the svp loves them. A complete and utter shell game.ppt decks galore.

Bear in mind that a few years ago titles were shifted to copy the rest of industry. What used to be Division Manager is now Director, and on up the food chain.

Okay, actual US director pay, rough numbers:

Base: Around $200k - call the range 180k - 220k
AIP: Around $40k target.
LTIP(Stock Options): A theoretical value around $40k but we all know how the stock is doing lately.

No director is pulling $500k today and none should have a base of $300k unless they got demoted from VP.

The ranges for other job grades are posted on this site already if you search for them.

Roman was touting on April 26th in his Townhall after the initial announcement of the 6,000 layoffs that there was a reduction of 10% of senior leadership positions. As I recall, 14 positions were eliminated, with a dozen retiring and 2 (Hammes and someone else) leaving for "other opportunities."

some are with less than 5 or less direct reports,
definitely need to go flatter

If you include Directors, there are literally hundreds in the HQ itself.

What value they add is a great mystery to me even after two decades of working for the enterprise.

Even more bewildering is the fact is even in today's grim environment, there are numerous Directors, with salary over $300k, with no direct reports whatsoever.

How can such waste be justified when thousands of hardworking productive people are being let go as we speak ?
