The cuts in MTE tell me three things.
Tireman has no stinking idea how manufacturing works. His last gig there was probably 1990s at ICI.
the company is going to be broken up into many pieces and wants to be so bare bones that someone might acquire a piece of it on the cheap (and then have to rehire people to actually make it work).
In 12 months, all he-l will break loose when production can't keep up with even modest demand because too many people got cut. Tireman will rage at the production people for being lazy and inefficient and will roll out his mantra- the only fixed cost is depreciation.
