Chevron closing in?

With their recent moves and the ongoing rumors about COP being bought up by someone, what do you all think about this likelihood?

Probably not an outright purchase, but we are definitely about to start liquidating assets. Get ready for another October surprise like in 2020.

Considering chevron and Exxon flirted with a merger during Covid, anything is possible. Doesn’t seem likely though.

None chance. This has been the rumor since I began working at COP in early 2014, with nothing ever coming to fruition. And now that our market cap is $125,000,000,000 I can't imagine any oil company taking on that level of debt give the uncertainty for the industry in the next 20 years and market rewarding strong balance sheets and not reserves on the books.
