Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

Reverse discrimination ?

Has anyone noticed a reverse discrimination pattern in their area for layoffs? Seems to be Caucasian and Asians mostly. Almost no minorities. Curious as to what’s up in your area.

What do the attorneys need for a class action suit? Is discrimination (age, gender, race etc…) in one area enough or does it have to be on average across the company? There are likely senior folks affected reading this who can speak to the insider bias that exists (targets for gender/race in promotion and staffing levels)

I did notice that roughly 75% of people laid off in my division were of a protected status. 40 and over, female or non-white. Everyone is hoping that all the attorneys we are consulting with that 1 finds a reason for a class action.

People of color at least can complain and pull racial card - whites not, just suffer siltently. Lots of Indians, blacks and women are actually being pushed into careers in large corporations.

Reverse discrimination? What about the blatant discrimination some people of color experience and have to tolerate at the firm everyday. Bet other factors were considered with layoffs but the fact that you jump to race is bewildering.

Why are you even pointing out race as a factor. What does that have to do with anything and why automatically jump to that analysis. It could be a number of things… dept funding , work ethic, performance, etc for the reason of letting go not just skin color.

Actually, it would be better if they aren’t factoring race at all. I believe that’s called discrimination.

Sounds like you were hoping more brown and black employees were eliminated. I wonder why that is….
