We had it good so good for such a long time. Bonuses, stock options, raises, great slogans, you could not beat a job at Medtronic. Well good times always end somehow; either bad and greedy management or poor response to market (lack of products customers want). I do remember the good days where I could not wait to be at work and contribute. Now, it feels depressing to even show up in spite of the beautiful surrounding. My mission is not to save other lives but save my own skin. I need to get out of here soon very soon. I do not share my thoughts with others - you never know. Do you feel that way too?

Same. Last one and half year nothing has happened on the customer front. Medtronic has lost market share like never before!
Companies like Abbott, Boston, Edwards, Dexcom, J&J and Stryker are biting Medtronic from everywhere.
And you know the funniest thing, the leadership is clueless about it! As the best talent has already left leaving low-end and insecure people, they don’t talk about these losses!
It would be interesting if Medtronic leadership does a small working group session with non-Medtronic KOLs to understand the damage it has taken!
Better to get a bailout after the July payroll that may give whatever is left of the MIP and the so called raise. The competition is waiting to receive you with an open arm! I received 15% raise over my Medtronic pay for lesser work!
Just explore and you will be surprised to find your true worth!
I don't think it has been any good for the last 20 years. The only reason people stay is fear, laziness and the low bar to look competent.
Most recession proof industries don't do layoffs...
I asked about my salary band recently, and it's time to leave. I have no hope raises will be better than 2-4 percent this year. What's the point of staying longer than 3 years? There are plenty of recession chill recession proof industries that pay more than MDT.
Any young Medtronic employees on here, learn as much as you can while you are here and then leave for a better paying job. Medtronic isn't a great place to have a career anymore.
Same. I was really excited to get hired by Medtronic. I felt like they only hired the best of the best. It was great and I enjoyed all my colleagues, but this last year has been unbearable. I accepted an offer with another company with a much higher compensation package and am leaving too. I will say to anyone who thinks other companies can’t beat their current pay at MDT - don’t rely on Glassdoor or the estimates you see online. I’ve always been given a much higher offer than what is reported on Glassdoor. Wait until you speak with the HR/recruiter and get the actual salary range for the role.
The good times are definitely over. I am also exploring external opportunities. Medtronic transitioned to a non-profit business.
I felt about and same. When I went through the seven rounds of interviews and got this job, I was thinking I got the job to work for the best company in the world. So proud of the mission! After they announced the very early retirement plan in this January , I had an opposite feeling so I went out to look for other jobs. None of these companies required seven rounds of interviews. I got three offers in two weeks with 30% increase in total compensation. I was so happy when I quit Medtronic two months ago right before the layoff. Best decision ever!
Medtronic’s good times ended back in 2008
Greed ruins it all for everyone except for the people in the executive suite. This will be the new norm. Enjoy!
This utopia ended in 2014/2015. Are you just realizing this now?
