bigger push for hybrid workers in office - soft lay offs?

Received an email this morning that BD is going to start addressing "non-compliance" with hybrid workers who are not coming into the office at least 3 days a week. seems like they're trying to force those workers to search out remote work elsewhere so they leave and BD won't owe severance/unemployment. any thoughts?

Add your pronouns to Teams and no one will even even bother you.

It is bullsh-t. Our department head is in the office even more rarely than our staff. Are they going to start pushing them into the office too? Half the time we are on calls with people across the country (or even out of the country) anyways.

Easy way to do a layoff without incurring financial cost and the negative morale associated with doing one. That being said, I am unsure if much will change. I am in a largely remote department and it is strange to see this sh-t when not many folks go into the office
