Thread regarding Ford layoffs

More Farley Failures

In addition to laying off 3,800 in Europe, we are terminating 1,200 in China (there’s 5,000 total) BECAUSE OUR MARKET SHARE IN CHINA HAS FALLEN FROM 4.6% to 2.1% IN THE WORLD’S LARGEST MARKET, UNDER FARLEY’S “LEADERSHIP.”

When will the Ford family say “enough is enough.”

China was always a bad play but these executives can’t see past their own nose. China is facing a population crisis that will cause future economic problems because of a lack of a younger generation to fill in for future economic jobs and consumer demand. Chinese, who can afford our vehicles, don’t want to buy American products made in China at a premium. Just hang out with the target market in China and you will hear the same thing. They’d rather buy the Chinese brands at a fraction of the price that have more tech. Exporting vehicles to the US from China is an insane thought with all of the tensions fraying at this time between the countries. Unless Ford can summon the cult consumer base Tesla has, the chance of competing in China is slim. Focus on culturing the Ford brand in the US and abroad in places where the products make sense. Our number one selling vehicle is a truck. Do you know what consumer base broadly hates the thought of owning a truck? China. Trucks are associated with the trucks used by workers and they don’t want to be associated with it.

@1gqf+1mEwJ99G. Name ONE measure by which Ford is successful in China. I’ll wait, forever.

The Ford family doesn’t care about this company as long as they are collecting dividends (and the paychecks they don’t earn). If the dividend has to be suspended again, that will be the end of Farley.

Shanghai to Detroit is +7000 miles. What is Ford thinking producing the vehicle in China when the greater volume is in NA? This is the new “Allante” for Ford but don’t expect logical decisions from current leaders.
Customers will pan this just like the other Lincoln’s.

Ford in China has been successful by many measures. If you didn't see the recent press release, China will manufacturing the all new Lincoln Nautilus in China and bringing it to the North American market. How is that not successful?

Our market share in China is shrinking under JF. Now China is manufacturing their own EVs. Ford is cutting headcount in China. A sign of Ford backing out and accepting defeat.

Ford tried to exploit China, but got played. Now the tables have flipped

I can't believe you would say that. Ford is very closely linked with China. We sell many Lincolns in China and are part of a Chinese joint venture. China market has been very profitable for Ford. The Chinese customer is very important to Ford and we will continue to tailor local offerings to meet their needs.

Well, the stock closed down today within 70 cents of the 52 week low, How much lower do the Ford family stock portfolios need to go before Farley goes to spend more time with his family that lives in the UK?

Well some of us remember Billy had the keys to the car once before. His own family fired him in 06 or they would have dumped the preferred stock. Not making that up Spring of 06 Free Press.
Alan came in to save the company. BTW I do not believe that Billy /Elena/Edsel found Alan and rallied every one. Sorry but Billy maybe a nice guy but he is no leader. Alan is the total polar opposite of Billy. Both in Business and politics.

So when I heard Billy say this is the best management he has seen at Ford. Sorry Bill but your track record speaks for itself.

The fact that Farley is still here is proof that the intelligence of the entire Ford family is nonexistent.

@OP. The problem is the Ford family. They are the ones controlling the BoD and the C suite. Farley is just a puppet.
