Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

This is becoming a less and less innovative company

And there will likely be even less innovation in the future?

Globalfoundries business model specifically targets and eliminates any innovation from its products. We are a group of fabs that produces older technology nodes

GF will be remembered as good example of a company that failed due to bad leadership

Here’s the thing though- after the flop with Brilliance, we know we can’t even do tech transfer and copy homework right. On top of that, none of the derivatives like 45 or 12 has gotten anywhere either- I remembered setting so much system stuff for 12, for minimal usage because the program petered out.

I mean, what else is there? What other super duper secret product do we have up our sleeves to keep going? Auto?

Very frustrating to hear TC and his third grade team.

Yea we are not an innovation cutting edge company. Zero dollars are spent on R&D. We are a mature technology company.

What do you expect when all of the higher level engineers are leaving and being replaced by newbies in low cost geos? GF doesn't want to be innovative, they want to buy technologies from places like IMEC, Samsung, etc and just tech transfer the innovation into the fab from other companies. TC refers to GF as a wafer manufacturing company, not a silicon R&D & mfg company, if you listen to his words carefully the answer lies right there!!!
