Thread regarding Marathon Petroleum layoffs

Marathon changing stance on weed?

Rumors going around that beginning on January 1st 2024, they will begin allowing the use of mari--ana where it's legal (on your own time obviously). Anyone else hear this?

Something to add! The DOT is in the process of changing its policy as well. So those working in DOT positions will likely have to wait for the DOT rollover. This will likely be within 12 months. MPC is just getting ahead of the whole thing.

Have a hard time seeing that since it's still illegal in a lot of states and at the federal level. Plus, you you have DOE and DOT reg's for some employees coming into play. Not sure how you get around that.

Yes it is changing. Plant Manager confirmed it will no longer be part of the dr-g screen and allowed for recreational use most likely by Jan 1st. Of course you will be terminated for being intoxicated at work and they apparently are going to have a system to test. Plant manager said it wasn't official yet but if he thinks its happening so do I.

Does that excerpt from the policy mean that if you get it legally then it's OK?

From the MPC Company Policy:

  1. Authorized Substances Substances having a physiological, psychological or biochemical effect which are lawfully prescribed to an employee or which are available without a prescription, which are lawfully obtained by an employee and which the employee possesses and uses in the appropriate manner, in the dosages and for the purposes for which the substances were prescribed or manufactured, are considered “Authorized Substances” for the purposes of this Policy.

I'll believe it when I see the smoke rings go up. Until then, just another pipe dream...
