Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Mifi’s

A friend of mine who is in estimatics (he doesnt do physical inspections) told me the company took away his mifi and told him he would have to use his own home wireless internet service that he pays for to conduct SF business. Now how cheap is that ? 13.2 BILLION record breaking loss for 2022…….

How cheap is it to complain about having to use theWiFi you already have at home anyway? 15 years ago, it might have made sense for SF to provide MiFi. Now it makes as much sense as providing you with a land phone line.

Well go into workday like I do working from home. Fill out the expense report. There is an area for work from home 30.00 a month for internet 5.00 a month for utilities. Fill it out every month always gets approved.

You don’t have to be self employed, genius. It’s called an unreimbursed business expense because you work for somebody else, have a business expense, and they aren’t reimbursing you for it. Read words. Learn things. It achieves more than just knee jerk reacting does.

this is not a small business that i own , i am not a contractor self employed , i am an employee with SF thus this is not tax deductible , not everyone's tax situation is the same and some may be able to deduct but i cant , SF is being really cheap about this, and most if not all work from home companies do reimburse a portion ( a sizeable one) of the internet cost, but i guess that underwriting cost has to be offset by something , still this is a stupid way to do it.

@3rir+1m95jBaR......So just deduct it as an unreimbursed business expense. There. Done.

in all seriousness the amount of bandwidth SF consumes is high, i seen 22% of my data cap be used just by SF , i personally never get close to 40% on home usage with other people in the house using it but suddenly it jumped to nearly 70% , windows 10 on work computer tells me how many hundreds of Gigabytes have been used per month and its alot, they should at least reimburse some of the usage if they dont like to give mifis any more, and dont tell me its my choice and i can go work at an office, that is not an option , all desks are shared and we are not there they are in used by next group.

I just think with data caps on home internet (usually 1tb) they should help out since they take a considerable chunk of a monthly allotment to cover overages.

SF hides behind unilateral contracts and their team of liberal attorneys who only care about them and their business. They'll learn people are not numbers. It is getting more volatile as each day passes. Scares the living daylights out of anyone who has an ounce of common sense and is in "the real world." They have created a monster they will not be able to control. Watch and see.

And? Seriously, you already have WiFi at home. As many have pointed out, you can partially deduct the cost. There’s no actual problem here.

Yes they took most mifi away a while ago. Use home internet or get your a-s into the office.

You can submit part of the internet bill for reimbursement if you're that bothered by it

I had to pay for my own haircut even though my hair grew on company time! SF is definitely not the company they used to be.

They should at least reimburse a portion of internet cost. My friend works from home and his company partially pays internet. Otherwise could your friend write off internet as a business expense?

That isn't even the worst of it.

I work from home doing SF business, and they are making me pay for my own underwear while on the job...DOING STATE FARM BUSINESS!!!!

I deserve more money for quiet quiting.
