Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Better quality

The company should prioritize quality improvement. What I'm not sure though is whether our leadership will finally realize that and what miracle needs to happen for the quality to rise to a higher level?

How foolish to think the tons of toxic waste from producing lithium batteries will not harm the environment even more...what if your children end up living in it.

It is really sad that the Elites have succeeded in getting people to argue over race or se-ual orientation and bite and devour each other, just to distract you from the kn--e in your back as the jobs go to the best "slaves" that will work for the cheapest wage. Wake up!

If you want better quality, buy a Toyota, Honda, Nissan...but don't buy a Ford.

@7kcy bang on there , diversity of thought is not present or welcome at Ford.
When a company is located in metro detroit it will for the most part only attract employees from metro detroit, who all have pretty much the same background no matter physical differences.

The best LL6 I worked for @ Ford was from west Texas. That guy was no-nonsense, everyone contributes and we get it done correctly the first time kind of guy. He left after 10 years. He told us that he was tired of the Ford toxic culture. All the useless LL6 spent their time and energy trying to sabotage the productive LL6. The replacement LL6 (useless) told us the west Texas LL6 wasn’t a good Ford employee as he didn’t fit the mold for a Ford employee. The dynamics of the team then changed, the knives came out and the few of us who weren’t down with the new dynamic found other positions post haste.

The “diversity” promotions observed have all been of the Ford mold. The ones who willingly protect and preserve the toxic culture, not the most capable and deserving.

What different perspective? In many cases, these "diverse" people grew up in the same neighborhoods, went to same elementary schools, universities, and have the same degrees. They are all part of the same privilege.

@6irs+1m82v6fA is exactly right.

Ford - and all auto OEMs do NOT have r@cist policies. The policies are NOT r@cist. We just happen to hire and promote white men.

If you force changes to those completely coincidental hiring?promotion results, then you are oppressing us white men.

@5kuv+1m82v6fA Again, another study that was misunderstood and taken out of context. The study showed that COMPETENT diverse workforce can provide different perspectives and can indeed contribute to the bottom line of the company. Just in case you missed the capital letters, the keyword is COMPETENT, not diverse.

Diversity for the sake of filling DEI quotas, as we do at Ford, doesn't accomplish anything good. It just creates resentment, racism, division, favoritism, bad leaders, quiet quitting, low morale employees, etc.

Now, diverse people that elevated themselves and got their promotions, not due to gender, nor skin color, nor se-ual preferences, but because of talent, they can actually provide a different perspective due to the differences in upbringing and education, and how to apply those different perspectives into solving the issue.

I honestly would like to stay out of this debate. There are good points on both sides. BUT…. The best comment I heard is from Charlie on this video clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_GyDptWDqQ

I’m paraphrasing; if you’re about to go for a major surgery with life and death outcome, you don’t go and search for a diversity doctor, you go and search for the BEST doctor that can perform the surgery.

Diversity helps the company by providing views from different perspectives, which studies have proven to have positive business results... - @5kuv

So why are those with a Conservative perspective getting the strong message that their opinions are unwelcome, and may even be career limiting? I think we should be seeking to hire the best qualified we can get for the money management is willing to spend (that's another big topic) regardless of diverse or not. I don't think it's a good idea to be hiring with the primary goal of diversity, when the diverse qualities have nothing to do with the skills needed for the work or any innate ability.

Those diversity studies are not fact. They are just cherry picked data by people making a living promoting diversity. The only benefit of diversity in technical areas is it expands the talent pool - lowering cost. Toyota did not become the leading car company because of their diversity. Is an entire group of Sw developers from India diverse? Should we scrap the China development center because they lack diversity? They either have the background and training to do the job or they don't.

Diversity helps the company by providing views from different perspectives, which studies have proven to have positive business results with any industry which embraces it. Fact.

Focus on mitigating climate change is the right thing to do for any company at this critical time for our planet.

Combining these initiatives is how Ford becomes the leading sustainable mobility company in the world. How could anybody not agree?

I don't know why I was worried about Quality or Climate Change. If Ford becomes a 'Tech Company' like they say, we'll all be riding electric scooters everywhere we go. Our carbon footprints will be so low! Good luck on I-94 though...

DEI is not our only primary area of focus. Climate Change is also a key focus.

Our diverse Ford Family will lead our company to the top - all while doing everything possible to reduce our impact on the environment and to reverse the horrible effects of climate change as much as possible.

Our competitors would be wise to follow our lead.

@3txe+1m82v6fA You are naive. Bill Fords job is to pump sunshine and prop up the Ford stock. He is the Ford family representative that shows up when there is a plant accident and expresses concern and tells the employees they are his family. He is the fair-haired likable polished family representative.

According to Bill Ford “ Jim Hackett is a true visionary who brings a unique, human-centered leadership approach to our culture, products and services that will unlock the potential of our people and our business”. Now in the rear view mirror the consensus is Hackett was one of the worst CEOs in Ford’s history.

Kiersten was and is a willing tool for Ford oligarchy. She was rewarded handsomely for her behavior with bonuses and promotions. In the best light the behavior was morally and ethically challenged. In the worst light it was illegal.

The emails between her and other leadership which discussed how to manipulate the BOD which surfaced after the 2019 smart redesign along with the email chains between her and some of BGC consultants tell the tale. It was systematic age-ism and systematic pension deprivation.

Layer on the public press releases and internal videos produced in the same time frame in which the message directly conflicts with the behind the scenes document trail. Remember how we all cringed with the Kiersten videos as you got the creeps as her facial expressions and body language were not consistent with her words?

Then add on that she recommended her BGC team players for hire at Ford. And they were thus rewarded for their behaviors with cushy Ford jobs.

Then layer on that BF and JF were more than willing participants in the scheme.

All adds up to poor leadership that do NOT care about the quality of Ford products. They are only lining their own purses/pocketbooks.

Remember - when people show you who they are, you should believe them.

They have told you the US salaried work force would be reduced 85% over 5 years. So you know that more bulk cuts are coming. All the diversity promotions are a smoke screen, they will all be clipped when the bulk cuts come around.

In response to the previous comment:

  1. Doug Field is our top addition to Ford executive leadership. He is leading our single most important business arm, Model e. Bill Ford himself has stated we have the best leadership class that Ford has ever had in its history, right now.
  2. We are a global company, you cannot supply the world with products and services only from the USA.
  3. Ford needed to turn over the workforce to younger candidates from the best tech companies to gain diverse perspectives on our company transformation to a new business model with Ford+ Plan.
  4. The EV timeline must happen now. Not later. Experts have said it is not sustainable to wait.

What better way to improve performance than to lay off thousands of experienced workers? I'm sure quality of vehicles moving forward will be stellar! ROFLMAO

Meantime, a lot of the quality issues are in manufacturing. That's what happens when you ship manufacturing to Mexico. When was the last time anyone bought something because it had a "Made In Mexico" sticker and you knew the quality was going to be superior? (Spoiler: NEVER)

If Farley is serious about quality he'll do the following:

  1. Fire all of the silicon valley empty heads. Starting with Doug Field.
  1. Bring all manufacturing back to the US. Including parts!
  1. Rehire salaried folks that were laid off that had 10 and 20+ years of experience.
  1. Lobby Washington to slow down on the EV timeline until we are ready and more peope want them.

But no, Carcar will instead keep playing racecar driver, giving interviews and making media appearances, and trying to blame the experienced engineer for the quality problems.

So comments on favor of rainbows and DEI are permitted in this site, but the comments against it are deleted. I thought this was a layoffs site, removing what is not pertinent to the subject. In real life, censorship in this site only cares to cater to the left. Be careful what you ask for, since it may come true, and if history serves, all the left leaning governments caused more bad than good.

You can’t make this $hit up. Lots of good hard working experienced employees were forced to leave or left on their own because of what was going down. The drain will continue as the next core group of leaders and engineers hired in the the 89-92 range Thant are still around will retire. The future of Ford as we all know it is questionable.

Can you guys please stop complaining about diversity??

Does it really bother you if a beer can has a rainbow on it? Does it really bother you if a Gillette commercial encourages men to treat women better?

Kid Rock used to be a rapper but you have forgiven him...

Kiersten who had never held a PD job in her life before is a President of Family Vehicles. She had done nothing but HR her whole life. Instead of being let go she is promoted into a position where she has ZERO experience. Farley and the buddy club at work.

We need TVM focus: less stuff on the vehicle means less systems / components to focus on and an increase in manpower when calculated on a per component basis.

It’s too late for that. Over the last 4 years Suppier Techincal Assistance has been targeted. The people responsible for this mess were Kisten Robinson And Paul Randle (who created this disaster then took his big retirement check).
Kirsten spearheaded the master plan to defraud employees of their pensions while also adding the Bill Ford diversity initiatives) this basically stripped STA of experience. Paul Randle moved STA Uunder product development so that when the 2nd phase of the layoffs came STA could take the brunt. Then straight after he separated STA from PD and then jumped ship before taking resp. for his mess. Then to cap it all Kirsten rears her head and promotes anyone that ticks the diversity box regardless of whether they have a clue or not.
So how did that strengthen supplier quality as Farley was directed to do?
