Will you have to be completely co-located at one or two main BU sites? For example what UCC is doing with making everyone be in Covington. Some BUs have functions that are mostly remote or associates who are based out of other BD sites that are not technically for the BU. Or will it just be R&D??

@cq what exactly did the UCC email say about returning to office? When does it start? Any other BU do the same?
@d7 omg. Never thought of it like that. It’s like they are getting a weekly bonus—that’s real money they get to keep while others struggle. So much for “work life balance”
Does that mean all the HCL people in India have to relocate to UCC too? They offshore the work but that’s okay, but some American has to get to the office because it’s impossible to work remotely.
@cq every BU need to do this! Completely fair. Why do some get the money savings of working for home while other, good employees as well, have to pay extra for gas, wear and tear on their vehicles, time away from family, work clothes, etc? I’m surprised the company hasn’t been sued yet for discrimination
@cq Are they giving them a chance to relocate and will they lose their positions if not? Also, did they give a reason for this? Wondering if it's a true business requirement or just a means to reduce headcount by letting those who can't relocate resign and not have to pay severance.
So many talented people are able to work for the organization and be in other locations. These same people if they have to choose relocating to finding another job, will leave BD. And for those successfully working from home at a high level, having to go back to an office and commute, will be less motivated, work fewer hours. - it’s also hard to find talent in a one hour radius of a workplace.

Some BUs are spread across 6-7 sites and it would require an entire reset.
I’ve heard rumors of co-location for over 3 years and nothing has changed
@c5 As with everything at BD, rules are never really followed and exceptions will be made based on various factors such as a manager’s influence with his/her VP, the demographics of the employee, who’s friends with who, etc. The “rules” are never applied evenly to all and it’s often used as a tool for putting people on the list for the next RIF. There are people based out of FLKS who live within 15 min of the office and are allowed to work remotely full time and people over an hour away who are expected to be in office.
@c5 for ex in FLKS you have some ppl who were hired into UCC, surgery, MMS that sit in flks … I hear UCC will no longer allow them to be in FLKS
@c5 so are they going to lay folks off that are either classified as remote or folks who sit in a divisional site but are classified as corporate employees doing business across multiple BU’s?
There will be no accommodations for anything along these lines. Work is to be done exclusively at the main BU sites.
