Thread regarding Albertsons layoffs

Layoff nextwave - end of Q3 or Q4??

To those impacted yesterday - I'm sorry. You didn't lose your talent, the company lost it.

To those of us who survived, refreshing thelayoff.com:

They didn't lay off the work, they just laid off the people who did the work. That work is now yours.

A title can't execute a roadmap. A spreadsheet can't fix a prod outage at 2am.

If you were spared, you weren't saved - you were given a deadline. Use it.

No one understands the strategy anymore.

You can be in all the good books, sacrifice your mornings to early meetings, your nights to late calls, sometimes your weekends to meet the deadlines for the releases - and still find your name on the list.

When 10-12 hour days and late-night deployments aren't enough to keep your job, what exactly are we supposed to give?

Agree with others. Theist cut was to show Wall Street we would do more than just ACI edge to turn more profit, but notice how we haven’t heard any numbers yet about how that’s saving us? When we have equality bad end of year numbers you’ll see more cuts happen.

2027 planning is underway and you can bet they are talking about how much more they can still cut and deliver, or replace with cheaper GCC “talent”

@bz it doesn’t look like it’s going to increase ever. We didn’t reach that level where we don’t have anyone useful left to do here that they need to add.

There has to be more layoff rounds. No clarity on why this layoff happened as mainly needed resources are let go.

I was part of yesterdays Layoff after working for almost 7 years for albertsons as senior software engineer backstage. whoever got saved this time remember this pattern after 3 months you will see another layoff so if you got saved this time! what that means is you have 3 months to find job elsewhere before your turn comes!! be ready then being job less!!

@a4 yes, mostly they will do it end of February so that they navigate the holidays without any issues.

Question to ask leadership in every townhall:

In the next 6 months, do you think the headcount in U.S will grow/reduce or stay the same?

They’re not really safe from future layoffs. I’m hearing there’s another plan and strategy to be executed in February, and each lead may get another list of names. So surviving this round doesn’t necessarily mean their jobs are secure. They may be expected to take on all the extra work now and could still be impacted in the next round.
