Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Other OEMs

Why don't you all look for jobs at the other Michigan OEMs?

I’ve been around and GM is actually the best work option for engineers.
The upper management is condescending but most of the people are competent.
Workload and pay are above average for engineering.
Sure there are things I’m not happy about. The woke DEI stuff is infuriating. But generally speaking, you could only do worse. People are welcome to find out!

I'm generally happy here. The constant anxiety about potential layoffs is the part that I hate.

After 2019 I figured there would be a long stretch where layoffs were the farthest thing from leadership's mind. Now, just a handful of years later and here we are again.

I worry that the other Detroit area OEMs are going through the same thing. Look at the Ford forum on this site. It seems awful - everyone is stressed about potential layoffs. I have that here already. I don't know anything about Stellantis - their forum on this site is pretty quiet.

Because GM is the worst place to work, except everywhere else.

The fear of them being like GM.
