Many of our competitors offer 9-80 schedule. How nice would it be to have every other Friday off!

@cc from what’s I am seeing the person from India can’t actually do my job well. As for the complaining they may not complain but they sure do quit and job hop often. Who can blame them when Chevron is paying more to do the same job and offering a better culture.
My neighbor has every other Friday off. He loves to bring it up and give me a hard time about it.
We don't trust you. If we can't see you working we just assume you're not.
@ed You create a valuable company by manipulating the market through interpersonal connections with established capital. Just look at Tesla.
If you enjoy the taste of boot leather, feel free to give your life to Exxon. Just don’t make the rest of us do it.
@OP A lot of places are also getting rid of it as part of a general war on white-collar workers.
Don’t assume that a benefit will always be there. WFH is a good example (most executives still have it though).
XOM said they’ll do 9/80s right after they implement Na--d Thursday’s
@eq go work for them
@ed then why are others able to
You don’t create a valuable company with 9/80s
@e3 You think we're a well-oiled machine in the base case? LOL
Been down this road with the pink flamingos. I have no idea how that would actually work. There is no accountability from management down to make that work in realtime. Can you imagine getting people actually work on time everytime to be a well
Oiled machine. That would never work here.
@OP you can have 9x80s anytime you want, just won’t be at ExxonMobil
DW clearly said no to this before, actually he nearly laughed when responding
Let's review again....management doesn't want us to be happy. If we leave voluntarily, they save money. So of course they're not going to offer 9/80's.
The reason that Mobil could implement 9/80s was the lack of forced ranking. We all helped and covered for each other.
Mobil valued helping your coworkers just as much as ExxonMobil values stealing credit for work done by your coworker.
@bn he might like licking boots, but does your wife know about your fantasy of licking co-k?
@cc Anyone downvoting my comment needs to wake before it’s too late. I’m not saying what I said to be mean. It’s unfortunately what is happening to our company.
You people are the reason XOM is moving all the office jobs to India. You already have a job that probably shouldn’t exist and you want to make it even easier.
I will say this as clear as possible for anyone at XOM, if you can do your job from home then a person in India can do it from India for 1/10 the price and they won’t complain.
Oxy has 9-80s, and also WFH Monday and Friday. They actually trust their employees to get the work done.
away from bootlickers like you? heaven on earth...
Every time we have a 3 day weekend I think about this. Conoco has it as well.
Some engineering firms we work with either have 9/80’s with alternating Fridays off, or 4x10’s, so never work on Fridays.
Mobil Oil had 9/80 workweeks prior to the Exxon acquisition. Shortly after we became ExxonMobil, 9/80 workweeks disappeared.
@OP You can have even Friday off. Ans also every Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. No eMail on the weekend either.
@a1 Chevron
Who offers 9/80s anymore? I think it’s pretty rare these days.
