Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Expect many more layoffs

When the whole world is hiring, hpq is busy slashing headcount. So when the whole world is slashing headcount, do you think this company will stop at 6k layoff. Think again when co like amazon, meta and many more are having second/third rounds of layoff, hpq will not stopped at 6k. Too good and opportunity to let slip to layoff more.

@8mcq+1lE1VDRm makes a great point.

HP Office in Amstelveen, The Netherlands is a big disaster people are still in the dark since they bought Poly 1st November last year. Some of the ex-Poly [people are working more then 20 years also not sure what their role is now.

Anyone who actually thinks that HP is going to soon end layoffs is completely delusional. This company is slowly dying, as printers are on the out and PC sales are diminishing due to continued strong growth of cloud computing that reduces the need for powerful high-end PCs and laptops. HP is NO LONGER a company to expect a long career at. Regardless of whether you're a CW or FTE, you should look for something outside of HP now before IT hiring worsens even further than it is now.

FYI - I live near the Boise campus, which is now 100% owned by the state of Idaho. HP's leased footprint there is now so minimal that if you drive past the campus you could barely tell that HP's even there.

I would be shocked if CW’s were not affected. CW’s have been leaving due to furloughs and low pay. I left myself because it was clear that HP was going to lay off employees and contractors. There seem to be a lot of high-paying jobs if you have the right skills. I found a very good job thanks to a good recruiter.

No, CWs do not count against the layoff target.

Do contract workers even count towards the 6000 announced layoffs since they technically aren’t considered HP employees but rather employees for the staffing agencies they come from?

CW's are going to be hit hard at the end of May. I was told by my agency that HP has demanded that all CW's will be cut by 12%. My agency said that they would know by the end of May which CW's HP wanted to keep and which ones they want the agencys to let go.

This is going to be an interesting summer.
