Guys, enjoyed your wfh free ride. Outsized profit sharing. What else do you want ?. GM went on a reckless hiring spree during covid (like google, meta ) did and what else can happen next ?....Be happy they are giving you something to leave.

They are looking for a reduction in staff. Period. If you suspect you might be on the bubble, or are tired of the toxic work environment, then it would behoove you to take the VSP as the alternative will not be as generous. I'm sure that those who were recently let go received a lackluster package, despite any years of service or loyalty to the company, and would have gladly taken the VSP had it been offered.

The old head of HR retires, probably so they didn't have to a part of this fiasco, and the new person is swinging the ax.

It depends on whether you think you'll get a better deal in the involuntary layoffs that are going to follow this.

Trying to save 2 billion translates to a lot of salaries they're going to have to remove from payroll.
