Frankly, I'm extremely unhappy with my job right now and am actively applying to new jobs. I would rather get laid off with severance than quit or be fired.
Also, does NetApp put underperforming employees on PIP or just immediately let them go?

Dude, I was wearing five hats at once and up for a promotion and I got cut. There's no rhyme or reason and most of it involves cronyism and buddy factor with the stack ranking. New directors protected their old BU's but cut the new BU to the bone.
Quick! Get rid of Netapp from your resume ... so you have a fighting chance.
Meta just had a second round of layoffs today. And since Netapp just copies what every other company does it would seem likely.
Seems like our group was over staffed actually, lost 3 ppl, but workload is similar to what it was b4 rif . Maybe slightly more but not twice as much. We’re coders btw;
ICP is at 23.5% this year so they can fund the severances they paid out. Makes perfect sense.
I feel you. Ever since the layoff, it's like I'm working two jobs. And now with the 23.5% ICP I feel like they're pi----g in my face as a reward for all that work.
The question was never "if" there are going to be layoffs, but what you are gonna do about it
