For the last few months, every time I open up my linkedin page there is always a sad story of some H1B worker who got laid off with a nice family picture begging people to find them a job so that they can stay in the U.S. First of all, I do sympathize for these folks and if I was in their situation of course I would do everything in my power to do what best for me.
However, let's backtrack and remember why you came to this country in the first place. You were sponsored to come here to WORK because of your skillsets and that's it. We didn't bring you here so that you can bring your family over and take advantage of this loophole to try and stay here permanently. Once the company decides that your WORK is no longer needed, its expected that you would return to your country. This is NOT inhumane, it is expected of your assignment. Again remember you chose to come here to WORK.
Thousands of workers that are U.S citizen are being laid off. A lot of these guys are the sole provider in their family and rely on their income to support their family. Who sympathize for them? I would rather that companies try to keep these workers than trying their best to help the H1B workers. Now if you follow through the residency process to come here legally without relying on H1B loophole then that's different and I totally support that.
