Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Isn't it ironic?

It's ironic that the same people who:
*Blasted SLT for calling for a return to the office
*Threatened to quit after the bonus over RTO
*Made a big stink about quiet quitting over RTO
*Shared "dank memes" about GM on Yammer
*Complained extensively about the terrible "free coffee"
*Sh#t-posted on Reddit about how awful it was to work at General Motors
...are the same people who were targeted for cuts?
We are just at round 1. Imagine how exciting things will get for these miserable people.
Oh but weren't they going to work for big tech somewhere for a bigger pay and more glory? Aren't those the same corporations doing the mass layoffs? Asking for a friend in tech.

I have worked for GM and Ford. Ford used to be a decent company to work for back in the day - not sure now. GM has a lousy culture, promotes bosses and not leaders. The culture is generally reflective of its disposition. I'd rather collect unemployment while looking for a job than work for GM... just my 2 cents.

Seriously, the most vocal and negative people on the RTO yammer page should have been fired back then. Call me old school or a boot li---r, but some of those comments were rude, disrespectful, and completely out of line.

If I owned a company and people loudly and openly talked sh-t about management and my company I would have fired them on the spot.

If you don’t like it, leave. A company owes you nothing.

That is not a fair assumption of everyone who was laid off. I’m sure that some of the employees “calibrated” met your description, but I was looking forward to RTO. I made a lateral move last year because I wanted to work on site and I missed working face to face with my team! Two weeks before being “not laid off” I was recognized by my 7th and 8th level managers for leading my team to success, and being a top performer. I supported the GM vision and values, and recommended GM as an employer to friends and family. My year end review went well and the comments were positive, but I received GM minus for the year. Because I made a lateral move before the layoffs, and since every department has become even more siloed (somehow), no one has been able to tell me why my positive year end review was determined to be GM minus. Each department tells me I need to talk to someone else or the HR team from a different org.

i was forced to leave gm after taking 360 degree manager feedback. they tell you guys all reviews are anonymous .its big lie. they know each person putting reviews. GM tactics is to get ride of people who put reviews. HR lady was telling me she want to make sure i will never put anymore reviews.

I know a couple of staunch RTO supporters at executive level that were let go or forced to retire. So I'm not sure where you got your info for your rant.
Anyway, GM has no integrity. First they announced WA policy that was widely admired only to take it back a few months later. Last month, they said no layoffs and yet it happened again. Have to take their word with a grain of salt. No integrity at all.
