The situation in which the company is right now is 100% self-inflicted. This is not the fault of the economy, pandemic, or whatever other convenient reason is available at the moment. What happened are indiscriminate layoffs. Many layoffs and the continuous loss of talent have left 3M with poor management that is incapable of leading a company this size. It's that simple.

To the person who said you are still being called even after being let go (assume laid-off). You do realize that your supervisor is not the one who decided you would be let go, right? You do realize those left behind have to pick up the work you did and it isn't their fault either, right? I know it isn't your problem anymore, but it is those who are in the L1-3 job grades that are making the decision to reduce positions. Not the direct manager or supervisor. It sucks you got let go, but the "little people" asking you for help did not make the decision.
Doesn't help that there are a lot of spoilt, entitled, complacent people in some areas of 3M who get paid a pretty decent salary, have great benefits and still complain they are hard done by whilst they do the bare minimum required to get by, work their contracted hours (or less) and god forbid they have to do anything above that then they claim TOIL!!
By no means a reflection of everyone but a lot of our colleagues take the pi-s and are part of the reason the company is up the creek
Ok captain obvious!
It’s true. After being let go they have the nerve to still call me asking for help.
Absolutely AGREE!!!
