Thread regarding 3M layoffs

This is what the board should be most concerned about:

The culture at 3M has evolved to the point where employees can no longer tell the truth or confront reality without fear of retribution. Any point of view that does not conform with high level messaging is discounted and ignored and the messenger is at best vilified, at worst, out of the company. No inconvenient truth is too small to escape retribution. Look at the high level people who have "retired" over the past 6 months because their honest view of a problem and potential solution did not conform with the predetermined narrative.

Sad in St. Paul is right. How can we win anything when bullying and discrimination by our number 2 is ignored by our number 1?

This post is 100% right. The COC does not want to hear differing opinions and shops answers until they get the one they want. Sycophants ascend to the top and tell Mike and Monish what they want to hear. Others are “retired” or sidelined or replaced by ge sycophants.

The "awards" you are seeing on social media (i.e. LinkedIn) and within PR statements from the company are typically self nominated and most often a "pay to play" situation. Content within the self nominations are rarely vetted or challenged by the sponsoring entity (i.e. Forbes). I state this as I have written a number of these in my career. If you really scrutinize these awards you'll probably find almost everyone gets a participation trophy.

The standards for exec conf are different. Yeah, we have always been one of those companies….
The biggest bullies have always been at the top.
Also, coc is now hiding in 223, not 220.

I am not sure how 3M continues to win awards stating it is one of the most ethical companies when 3M ignores bullying, harassment, discrimination and more by senior leadership. It is not right and not fair to employees. How many employees are subjected to harassment at 3M on a daily basis because of the culture? How many employees will end up sick because of the culture?

Great example today from the Operations downhill where Mr. Gibbon, in the response to online questions, said that many would not be here in 6 months. It's like the movie where they say that will make you work just hard enough not to get fired. And they wonder why productivity is so bad in our plants.

This just couldn't be more true. Companies that betray its employees and feed shareholders falsity are sure to fail. I can't imagine any worse morale anywhere.
