Anyone ever questioned WHY he left the rail industry altogether? The bigger question is why he resigned his candidacy for the CEO spot at the CN. He was picked for that spot, and he gives it up for a board member position at FedEx. I can assure you that if Vena takes the CEO spot at the UP, it's going to get MUCH worse for the company. Fritz wasn't doing a good job in the beginning, but Vena was how it got started in the first place. Vena is not what this company needs at all.

I sign off duty a lot. Managers on salary pay, make them work weekends.

That clown becomes CEO, let's show him how awful PSR is, all on call employees check out after shift and every weekend. Stop being on call. It's not in the contract to be on call. And on call supposed to get stand by pay. If we ALL put our foot down we can win back out stand by pay. Managers have to take trouble calls if NO agreement employees are checked in. Let's show them what happens when us Ground Pounder Grunts stick to it. Make them regret cutting jobs, cutting relief maintainers.

I don’t think it would be fun to watch. Vena is the PSR guru and this is all he knows. Thinks may take a turn for the worse for us if he’s appointed CEO.

Of course Vena would be worse but it would be funny to see him try to explain how he cares about safety and watch his tone deaf responses to the latest safety incidents. He’s not meant for the cameras and he isn’t capable of even acting like he cares about another human being. But it would be fun to watch.

Sometimes what you wish for doesn’t turn out the way you like. Fritz was bad for the company workers, but if Soroban Capital Partners gets its demand, the new CEO will be Vena who I believe will be much worse. Soroban owns 1.6 Billion in stock, so their demands carry a lot of weight with the board of directors. Vena is the one who masterminded the cuts we now deal with, including the lack of emphasis on safety. I fear we are going from bad to worse, but pray I am wrong.

I’d love to see that illiterate gorilla take the #1 spot. Get your popcorn and cameras ready folks.
