Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Greg Smith ki-led the VERP

From my sources they said Greg Smith was the only EVP to NOT offer employees under his Global Operations org the VERP.

I work out of the MTC campus and people who would have been eligible were pi---d to find out they were excluded. There are good engineers who have been here for 25+ yrs and contributed greatly who got shafted, but the VERP is terrible anyways, so why would Mr Walmart exclude us anyways???

Doesn’t surprise me. Greg has experienced many people leaving on their own their and is over paying sub-par replacements or just making the decision not to backfill, leaving a skeleton of talented people.

For those people the VERP woudl have been decent, long timers with old fashion pension. Some of those engineers were eligible in 2020 and chose to stay and thought another chance would come - no idea they wouldn't get the opton.

A. They have lost too many key ppl already and can’t retain.
B. Already have planned plant closures and need to retain them with already existing contracts Until closure. Don’t want to lose more of the skeleton.
